Capirossa is a young company (born in 2001) situated inland on the north side of the park at Etna, precisely in Solicchiata di Castiglione in Sicily. A few steps from the craters and the sea, the vineyards cover 15 hectares, planted at nearly 800 meters above sea level. Historic vineyards (over 50 years old) and recently planted ones that create an evocative setting representing typical terraced planting patterns supported by lava stone walls. Here, in addition to Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio, there are other native and international vines, among them Grillo, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, which adapt themselves perfectly to the extraordinary climatic conditions of the terroir and are capable of producing powerful sensory effects. The company philosophy is to enhance wine production through passionate and persistent research.

La Capirossa was a founded in 2001 and is located on the north slope in the Mount Etna park and just a few kilometers from the crater. The vines extend for 20 acres and are split up between Tumacsi, Barbagalli, Corvo, Bonanno and Sciaranuova districts, all between 650 and 800 metri slm. Beyond Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio the Cellar also produces the local and international vine species quali Grillo, Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon which express an excellent, natural potential, adapting perfectly to the extraordinary climatic conditions. A true celebration and show of its uniquiness.

The wines received prestigous recognition at the 15th Annual International Mountain Wine Competition: Gold Medal for the Capirossa Sicilia IGT Red 2004 and Honourable Mention for the Capirossa Sicilia IGT White 2006.
