Sicily was awarded at the last edition of Vinitaly exhibition

The support offered by the Regional Body of Vineyard and Wine, whose chairman is Leonardo Agueci, gave an important support. The “Sicily of Wine” comes back from Verona with a lot of recognitions, thanks to which the region conquered a leading position in the world landscape of oenology. Also the prizes were high level: two Gold and eight Silver Medals and 108 Honourable Mentions. And 244 prizes that confirm that Sicily by now is a wellestablished reality that can further grow and create very good wines, from the drinking wines to the meditation ones, but without leaving aside the sparkling wines. “As always, our Body attended the Vinitaly”, affirms Leonardo Agueci, “and offered its companies the necessary support”. To mention some of the producers: for example, the Convivio di Canicattì and the Milazzo Terre della Baronia conquered the Honourable Mention in the group of classic method sparkling wines, respectively with “Al-Qattà” and “Vino Spumante Brut”, and the double success achieved by the Fazio Wines from Trapani that with the “Petali” Vino Spumante Brut won the Gold Medal for the Charmat method, while with “Petali” 2006, sweet sparkling Moscato the Silver Medal for the sweet sparkling wine group. In addition to these, also the Cantine Calatasi, Planeta, Tasca d’Almerita, Rapitalà, Rallo and Donnafugata merit to be mentioned. The list could continue adding at least a hundred other producers from the isle that invested in quality and are appreciated by the most demanding customers.
