The Tenuta di Borgo Conventi at Farra d’Isonzo, surrounded, on one side, by the characteristic Collio DOC terraced vineyards and, on the other, by the Isonzo DOC vineyards, has an ancient history typical of the borderlands. A long-standing wine-growing tradition, which led the historical Tuscan wine producer, Ruffi no, to purchase the Friuli estate in 2001. Thanks to its centuries-old experience and sharp focus on modern technology, Ruffi no has given further zest and drive to Borgo Conventi, which is still the object of pilgrimages, only of a different kind these days: no longer monks, but enthusiastic wine tourists on their quest for the fi ne and beautiful things in life. The beauty is encapsulated in the 42 hectares of vineyards, almost a “mare magnum” of perfectly groomed vines, like a wellmanicured garden. This is a delicious cellar to visit, especially the red-brick barrique cellar, which can be accessed both from the wine cellar and the estate through a magnifi cent wrought iron gate shaped into a pattern of vine leaves and grapes.
