Canicattì, a few kilometres from Agrigento’s suggestive Valley of Temples, on hills that rise to 300m-400m above sea level bathed in the balmy Sicilian climate, we fi nd the 30 hectares of the well-tended vineyards of Azienda Convivio. A fl edgling company founded in 2000 by fi ve young friends who decided to combine experience and enthusiasm to create a new mark of quality in this niche of Sicily. An area that is spawning new and compelling ventures in wine. Primarily, the vineyards favour native grapes, such as Nero d’Avola, Inzoila, Grecanico and the international Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Chardonnay, which produce a rare classic method. The latest to receive the acknowledgements of Vinitaly 2007 include Gran Menzione for the ”Intenso“, “Syrah 2003” and the Spumante brut Metodo Classico “Al-Qattà”.
