Strong contrasts in a ‘DiVine’ restaurant
Rocco and Vittorio Carrozza, owners of the restaurant ‘Di ‘Vino Bacco’ in Viale Premuda, Milano are of calabrian origin. They adore fi sh and vegetables. So after having restored two of the oldest locations of the city, a bar and a fruit shop, they opened a restaurant of ’contrasts’ near pza. Cinque Giornate. The fl oor is in wood and two fi replaces decorate the walls. The tables are in contrasting materials: some in wood, some in transparent plastic with mats instead of tablecloths. The reception is welcoming and unfussy. Rocco overlooks the dining room; Vittorio is the boss of the kitchen. He experiments with eclectic and innovative dishes that are a far cry from Calabrese tradition but respectful of national recipes. Apart from fi sh, vegetables are given pride of place, perfectly cooked and deliciously crunchy.
