Merano (BZ)
Nel verde Magazine: May 2007
Merano boasts a particularly mild micro-climate in which flowering Mediterranean vegetation decorates the snow-topped peaks of the Alps and which earned the well-known holiday resort the title of “garden city” in the late 19th century. A calling that today finds its maximum expression through Meranoflora (meranoflora.it), a biennial event which, up to 6 May, will colour walks along the Lungopassirio with floral sculptures inspired by works of art. The challenging theme posed for the best gardeners is “Art&Energy”, of which a telltale sign is the 15-metre high open-book sculpture that opens the show. Another must is a visit to the flowers and aromatic herbs exhibition-market event. Nature’s energy also permeates the town’s new Parco Termale (termemerano.com) where you can treat yourself to rosebud wellbeing treatments in the Spa&Vita centre.
