Via Corinaldese 6 - Corinaldo (An) - Corinaldo (AN)
Magazine: October 2007
Marche. Amongst the undulating hillsides and near the sea, on one of the gentle knolls rises Corinaldo with its domain of centuries old darkened towers and buildings.
Glimpsing from a distance the embrace of the 15th C walls is stunning, some of the best preserved and the longest of The Marches with a perimeter of almost a kilometre. The charm of the medieval village is due to the nature of the ancient fortifi ed city with its watchtowers and doors decorated by the Ghibellini. The south door is a truly magnifi cent entrance that opens to reveal the view of the Piaggia: a fl ight of 100 steps from which radiate alleys with red brick houses. Birthplace of S.Maria Goretti- (her sanctuary in photo right). Since 2004 Corinaldo pertains to the association The Most Beautiful Village of Italy and in 2007 reaped the coveted reward.
