The adventure began in 1997 when Luigi Abbate offered to sell his own company to Salvatore who accepted. The latter became known for his entrepreneurial skills; he threw himself into largescale distribution and began an advertising campaign for a new company image. He then started production with the acquisition of a company at Mazara del Vallo. The oenological establishment, where they make the Sicilian wines is technically one of the most advanced, where they work 50% of the white grapes and 50% of the black grapes produced. The fi rst awards in oenological competitions stimulated the company to go ahead and they have now set a record: 58 labels with wines for every palate. One of the objectives held dear by Abbate is to make Maremonti the best Sicilian winemaking company for large-scale distribution and create wine shops in supermarkets.
